Caring for your pearls is quite easy. After each wear, gently clean them with a soft cloth (if you purchase pearls from SweetlySteele, your order will come with a cloth) No water! Just cloth! If you feel your pearls need polish, use a dedicated silver polishing cloth to lightly buff the beads, but be careful not to remove too much of the natural oxidation. Stay away from water, soap, or chemical cleaners, as this can damage the silver. Try to remove your jewelry before putting lotions, perfumes, hairspray, or makeup on. Do not use abrasive cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners, or steam cleaners on your Navajo pearls as they will damage the pearls surface. Avoid wearing your pearls when showering or swimming. When storing your pearls, try to store then in a tarnish-preventing pouch or a lined jewelry box to prevent oxidation.
